Brighton, Portsmouth and Buriton

Cloudy morning, drive to Brighton and it rained all the way, got to Brighton, cold and windy.  Put on all our warm clothes, an hour later the sun came out and all of a sudden it is 22 degrees, stayed sunny for the rest of the day.  Crazy weather that is very unpredictable.
Brighton was a pleasant surprise, guide books are a little negative, there are some ordinary areas but there is plenty of money being spent and even though we got there at about 9am and there was nobody anywhere, by the time we left at about 12 midday the crowds were very healthy.  Loved the pier, the beach was all stones but there were plenty of people on the beach, not many in the water.  It would be interesting to see this town in a couple of years.
On to Portsmouth, went straight to the old wharf area, it has been modernised and is very tourist friendly.  I went up the tower, Pam spent a bit of time in the shops (a bit like an expensive DFO).   Impressed with this town too.
Pam was interested in a walk in the South Downs National park - I did some research but obviously not enough....we didn't get lost and ended up at the local pub and all is forgiven!!
Walked to the local pub for tea, got home about 9pm and it was still light outside, never mind, blog then bed!!!

Bridge over the Arun River

Next to the White Hart pub, I don't think they're expecting too much traffic?

Brighton Beach with one of the many hotels overlooking

Western pier, burnt down in 2003

New viewing pylon with the viewing platform rising up to the top

Pam had too much to drink last night and came home to this!!
