Cambridge

On the last leg of our trip today, called in to Cambridge on our way to London.  From our B&B it was an easy 50 minutes.  We got 7 miles from Cambridge and it took another hour to get to our car parking.  Little did we know today was the University Open Day and every prospective student and their parents were in town for the day.  The traffic was horrendous and the crowds were annoying.  Lovely day weather wise and we did have a good day, went for a punt on the Cam River under half a dozen Cam bridges, walked along the Backs and wandered through town.  We spent a day in Oxford and both cities are very similar, not sure which one is our favourite but both are very wealthy and beautiful.  Picked up some groceries for our London stay and headed to our B&B at Woking, a suburb in the south west of London.

The 2 hour trip started well until we got to the M25, there had been a crash, needless to say the trip took 3 hours, got to the unit and we're very pleased with it.  Time for beer, blog and bed.

First view of Kings College

Time for a punt with a few photos of views from the punt along the Cam.

The is one of the local pubs, The Anchor.  Pink Floyd members were struggling musicians in London and played one of their first gigs in this pub following the release of their first album.

Great St Marys Chapel, we decided to climb the tower.

Great views of the city

City Square with their permanent markets

  1. Those buildings look beautiful! We just don't have anything here to rival the history and the beautiful buildings! hard to believe your trip is almost over, where has that time gone and you have seen and done so much in that time. Glad to see the blue skies, we must have sent them over to you as we have wet and windy here at the moment! We'll look out for you at the tennis! Wave and hold up a sign that says "Hello Trish" and I'll know it's you!
